The RRB NTPC recruitment process mainly entails the five stages, and the final appointment for a given post is completed once the aspirant successfully clears all the stages.
RRB NTPC 2019 computer-based test: Stage 1
Irrespective of the post applied by the candidates, everyone has to undergo the online CBT Stage 1 and 2. Before starting the preparation, the candidates must be aware of the exam pattern and details.

Exam Duration: All the candidates receive 90 minutes for the CBT stage 1. The applicants from the PWD category will get more time; they receive 120 minutes.
Nature of Test: The exam pattern is objective type with questions in the multi-choice format.
The total number of questions: The total number of questions asked in the examination is 100.
Marking Scheme: If a candidate answers a question correctly, then he/she will score 1 mark. In case the answers are incorrect, 1/3rd of the marks deduct (negative marking).
Subjects: The CBT stage1 is comprised of subjects like mathematics, general awareness, general intelligence, and reasoning. Below is the subjectwise distribution of questions and marking shown in a tabulated format.

RRB NTPC 2019 computer-based test: Stage 2
Only the candidates who are able to score the cutoff marks are eligible to appear for the CBT stage-2. The total number of candidates is almost 20 times the total number of vacancies available. The exam pattern and details are as below:

Minimum qualifying marks for CBT
The cutoff percentage for CBT Stage 1 and Stage 2 are provided in the table below. The minimum qualifying marks for different category varies accordingly.

There is an additional relaxation of 2% for PWD candidates appearing in RRB NTPC examination.

2019 skill test / Aptitude test
The candidates who have applied for the job position of Station Master and Traffic Assistant have to appear for the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT). The candidates also must submit their vision certificates.
The merit list produced for the aptitude test is in a ratio of 70:30. The 70% is for the CBT stage-2 test, and the remaining 30% weight is for the aptitude test.
Applicants applying for the post of Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Junior Time Keeper, and Accounts Clerk cum Typist must undergo a typing skill test. This is a qualifying test.
Candidates with a disability have to provide an additional Typing Skill Test Exemption Certificate issued by the Competent Medical Board.
The candidates must possess the following typing speed given in the table below without the aid of any spell check and tools. The number of candidates in this round is approximately 8 times the total number of vacancies.

RRB 2019 NTPC Document Verification (DV)
Based on the performances of the candidates on the CBT (Stage 1 and Stage 2), Aptitude Test, and Skill Test, candidates will be summoned for document verification. An additional 50% of candidates are called for document verification to then go onto a standby list.
These candidates are not eligible if there are no relevant posts vacant. The candidates need to carry the original documents along with two self-attested copies of the original documents.
If candidates fail to appear in the document verification round, they will not receive any extended dates.
